Marcus Rashford is reportedly back together with his childhood sweetheart Lucia Loi, eight months after their ‘heartbreaking’ split.
The football ace, 24, was thought to have split from the university graduate in February last year after eight years together because of ‘lockdown pressures’, and their break-up was reported three months later.
Yet Lucia sparked rumours the couple have reunited after she posted a mysterious snap of a tattooed hand touching her boot.
A source told The Sun that the couple felt the break gave them both time to ‘breathe and focus on themselves’, before reconnecting shortly before Christmas.
They said: ‘The break was good for their relationship as it offered them both space and assurance that they wanted to make this work moving forward.’
The insider added: ‘They have been together since school so an opportunity to breathe and focus on themselves was important.’
Another source dished: ‘They have a shared history. She is one of the people who knows him best. They got back together before Christmas and are taking things slowly.’
Lucia was apparently also spotted getting into Marcus’ car after Manchester United’s defeat against Wolves, according to The Sun.
MailOnline has contacted Marcus’ representatives for further comment.
It was reported at the time of their split that despite them ending things, there was still hope that the school sweethearts might ‘reconcile’ after some time apart.
Sources said the couple broke up amid ‘lockdown pressures’, but still ‘love and respect’ each other.
They said: ‘After eight years together, Marcus and Lucia have made the mutual decision to part ways.
‘There is a strong mutual love and respect for one another, having met at school, and there is a continued dialogue with the hope of a reconciliation in the future.’
Marcus and Lucia met at Ashton on Mersey School in Greater Manchester.
